My credo
Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
A few weeks to a month ago when I would stop I'd get a banging sound coming from the front brakes (perhaps caliper), not sure if it was drivers or passengers side. Anyways, the banging sound seemed to subside a bit, and now my ABS light stays on most of the time and my brake light comes on during stops. I checked the pins on the calipers and they all look good, brake pads are fine. What should I look for. Maybe bleeding them perhaps?

You have checked the brake fluid level in the reservoir?

Your '93 has RABS, right? Shouldn't be any front sensors.

I guess I was low on brake fluid, the ABS light went off. 🤪 Doh

Yes, I was low thanks. 👍

How can I pull the ABS codes on my 1996 ranger to see why my ABS light is on? What are common faults on these systems? Are they good systems or do they not make much of a difference?

You have RABS in 1996, rear only, not 4WABS
When you turn off the key and then turn it back on the ABS module resets
With key on ABS light should come on and then go off, that's just a bulb test
All dash warning lights should do this

If ABS light stays on then there could be a problem with the ABS module

If ABS light goes off after key on bulb test then module is probably OK
When you start to drive and ABS light comes on then could be rear axle ABS sensor, unplug it and plug it back in, that cleans the connections, then go for a drive

Rear Axle ABS in a pickup truck is handy but not that helpful as the rear axle ABS sensor in this setup can't really tell when one wheel locks up only when both do, lol
