1992 ranger 4x4 inner brake pad problem

I'm having a problem with the inner brake pads of my 92 ranger. Lately the inner brake pad on the driver's side has been slipping around the rotor. There isn't anything attaching the pad to the calipers and stuff. Wondering if anyone knows a way to fix this.

You mean it rattles around in the knuckle?

I had the same problem on my 91, the knuckle itself was work enough that the pad can move around a bit causing an annoying rattle.

My solution for now was to put an anti rattle clip on each end of the pad. Its either that or replace the knuckle with one in better shape.

no, the pad is coming out between the rotor and i guess the back plate that the caliper fits into. The space is larger at the top, and the actual pad goes in between and slides around the rotor. I found it at the bottom instead of under the piston of the caliper.

Just the friction material? or the whole pad metal backing and all?

If its the friction material it has de-laminated from the backing and you need new pads.

its the whole thing, metal backing and all. i dont know if its missing a part to keep it in the grooves or theres something else that could be wrong. i'm used to pads that connect to the caliper or something, not just sit in there kind of free floating.
