I'm installing a 5.0 and 4R70W into a 1991 Ext Cab ranger and just about have it situated in the truck but my question is how can I configure the steering column shift to work with the transmission? I'd rather not install a floor shifter as I'm installing an ebrake and I don't want to take up a ton of space. I seen a lokar kit for the 4R70W but not sure how I'd adapt it? Also the letters on the cluster are different. The explorer has PRN(OD)21 and the ranger has PRN(OD)D21 . Someone also said I need to add an OD off switch and light cause the ranger doesn't have it, is that as simple as hooking it up to the fuse box from the ron francis kit or can I go without it? I have the whole 1996 explorer as donor.

I don't know ? Someone sent me some modifications they did to adapt the steering column and it looks like more than it's worth so I may just go with the mustang floor shifter and call it a day.

I see several listing for cable shifter on the 4r70w. Could somethin similar be adapted to the factory column shifter? Just print a label to go behind the needle of the indicator?
