I recently bought a 1991 ranger with 93k miles it started and ran great. I parked it for about one week and would not start.
It had 1/2 tank of fuel and cranked normal rpm but didn't attempt to start.
I could hear the fuel pump run and checked fuel pressure and it had 40 lb.
I sprayed starting fluid into intake and it fired like it was trying to start
A little back ground information on the truck.
The previous owner had been having trouble with the truck battery discharging when it wasn't being used, when he shut down he would pull the negative cable till the next time he used it.
I was told he did this for several months with no trouble. After buying the truck I continued doing the same till I get schematics to diagnose the problem ( I have a electronic background, over 45 years ) and in my opinion Hanes diagrams leave plenty room for improvement.
This is my first hands on vehicle with injection and electronic ignition.

sounds like it could be dirty injectors? Did you happen to check fire from coil or plug wire?

Welcome to The Ranger Station!

I've got schematics for 93, but I don't know how much different that would be from 91. Not much different is my guess, they don't look any different from what I posted from the Tech Library. I'd be glad to e-mail you those tomorrow, just send me a PM (private message, click on my user name and a menu gives you that option) with your e-mail address.

I can also get you some info on Parasitic Drain (google search terms) testing. Bad alternator diodes are pretty common. Not sure if the 91 is internal or external voltage regulators.

I tested spark it was ok and engine was running great, i cant imagine 4 injectors all crapping out at one time.
Thanks KHB1

any chance someone messed with your gas?.......

i re-read your original post. Any chance that your draw is from the injector harness? Did you check power to and from the harness? Could be like my truck and have a wire grounding?
