I was hoping someone with a little insight could help out, here... I have a 1988 Ford Ranger 2wd (Tranny = A4LD) and tranny is on the way to the graveyard. I found a tranny from a Ford Bronco II, but it is a 4wd and adapter and Xfer case..
Now, my truck doesn't use the transfer case, so it's not compatible, as is. But the transmission itself looks rather close.
I was wondering if I could unbolt the tail shaft from my 1988 (A4LD, 2wd) and use that on the Bronco II tranny, after the Transfer Case and adapter was removed from the 4wd tranny. Seems like a simple swap.
Can I do this, as is? Or do I need a conversion kit?
Thanks for your input!
