I have a 1988 ford Ranger automatic A4LD transmission 2.9L v6 engine. I am wanting to upgrade my exhaust system. Preferbly magnaflow or flowmaster or any other high quality name brand that will sound amazing coming out of it. I need to know every part i need to buy to make this happen. I am thinking of making it a true or a false duel exhaust as well. (false just using a y pipe for two pipes coming out the rear) please post every part i need to buy for all 3 options, single, true duel and false duel, and prefered brands that sound nice on this particular vehicle. Pictures, stories, and any other options are appreciated. you can post them here or email me at Nate.Ranger1988@gmail.com

5.0L engine, a transmission, some engine mounts, some fuel line, a drive shaft. Some exhaust.

Son, you have some awfully high hopes for sound out of any awfully little engine. You need cylinders AND displacement to make that nice low exhaust note that you hear old cars have. Your truck has neither. The best you are likely to get is something that sounds like a ricer.

I have had semi-decent results from a stock system (cat in place), with the stock muffler replaced with a 24" Thrush cherry bomb. Just pour a little diesel fuel in the muffler and roll it around before installing it. The sound will improve a little after a few hundred miles over the first day it is on.
