1988 ford bronco II pitman arm removal problem

hello everyone, i have a pretty bad leak around my pitman arm that goes to the steering box. I removed the large nut--but need to go rent a tool to remove the pitman arm. As I was looking at the situation. It looks like the pitman arm shaft on the steering box leans toward the motor mounts---or the metal part that goes under the motor from one side to the other---it looks like to me the pitman arm will not come all the way off the shaft due to the engine mount. I guess i don't want to go through all the work of removing the pitman arm if it will not completely drop from the shaft. Anyone experienced that before or do you know if the the pitman arm will drop down from the shaft or will I have to remove steering box?? I looked on youtube but couldn't find anything-and i have a chilton manual and it gives no info on this. I appreciate your help. mark

It should clear. Maybe a few pictures could help us see what you are seeing. The piece you are referring to that the engine mounts bolt to is called the engine crossmember. It is part of the frame of the vehicle. But it is not normally in the way when removing the pitman arm.
