Yeah man. They were going to take it to the dump! I said, hang on, I’ll get my trailer. 👍🏻
Here’s a better shot of it.

Awesome man :)

Not much to add. Ordered new spindles and bearings today as both sets of Dana 35s I had to work with were less than satisfactory. Should be arriving with my TruTracs next week. Hacked off some un-needed metal parts from the frame. Bought an intake and valve cover gasket set. Cleaned way too much oil and grime off this engine. Working on removing the 87 Cab this weekend for the swap.

Well. Waiting for the spindles and the locker, we got the engine compression tested and then removed the intake for inspection and cleaning. Holes look pretty good and even, and the sludge was minimal so looks like regular oil changes took place. The plugs were pretty bad, and I ordered a new set from Ford. They can’t get the wires anymore though. New upper and lower rad hoses also ordered. Valve covers are in the solvent tank and the intake will get a good cleaning. It’s a relief, as the engine seems to be looking pretty damn good.

This truck is in more pieces than it should ever be from here on out. At this point, reconstruction starts. New springs arrived, locker will get installed in the rear, new brakes and drums, new steady bearing, u-joints, new body mounts, fresh coats of paint on various parts,.. the scope creep on this build has got out of hand,.. like most of my well intentioned projects! I just can’t help myself. 😜

Well. Ass end suspension is in. Also found a steel diff cover from an F-150 to put on. Radius arm mock up, and custom plates made in front of my eyes. Inching closer. 👍🏻

Well, cab is off the 87. Going to clean up and rust protect the underside before rolling the chassis under it. Hoping I’m at the phase this truck stops coming apart and just starts going back together. lol.

Well, slow but surely getting there. Shit is coming together. 14” of travel in the front. Bump stops from a 2016 Superduty used up front with a custom bracket. Eastwood 2K chassis black paint on the beams. Should be mounting the cab by the end of the week.

Took the time to clean and prep the entire engine bay and underside for paint and Herculiner bed liner. Should keep the rusting at bay for a few years I’m hoping. Epoxy primed the engine bay and hit it with an epoxy gloss black paint. Herculiner went on the underside painfully by brush dabbing. 2 coats.
