trying to replace the harness on a 1987 ford ranger single cab 4x4 automatic. I have seen a lot of post about the 4.0 swap and am considering that but if I can find or build a new harness then I can keep it original. I have searched and can’t seem to find a new harness or one that allows me to buy the plugs and build a harness. Any ideas?

@djones07 ,
A complete engine bay/cab harness/PCM goes for about $70 when available in local wrecking yards.

That's a good idea. Anything you would want for a 4.0 swap would also be almost as old. 90-92 Ranger. 91-94 Explorer. The best kept 30 -year old wiring harness is going to need some work.

Just be thankful the insulation Ford used at the time was pretty good. The 80's GM stuff just disappears. I hate dealing with it on Brittney's truck.
