Im new to the group i have a 1986 ranger 2.9 tk5 and i an in the process of rebuilding the transmission and cant get the input shaft out, i have the counter shaft removed and have sepperated the main shaft and input shaft but cant figure out how the input shaft comes out any help would be great thanks

Looks like the Mitsubishi I just tore down. They make a special tool that is long and slender, and grabs the snap ring on the input bearing. The special tool has a screw in the middle that jacks against the end of the input shaft and pulls the bearing off.

Here is a link with some pictures. https://www.therangerstation.com/forums/index.php?threads/85-tk5-teardown-rebuild-photos.184279/

What I did was use a bearing splitter like the picture below.

I opened it up and compressed it behind the bearing snap ring. I didn't have any bolts laying around for the large threaded holes so I drill some smaller 3/8 threaded holes. I then threaded bolts in the two holes till they pressed against the front of the trans, and then kept going. I was afraid I would damage the front of the trans but it didn't.

The bearing moved some till the snap ring bent. I was replacing the bearing, so I welded two nuts to the bearing and put the separator behind those. It moved some till it broke the corner off the bearing race. So I welded the nuts on again and kept going. About 3 tries and it finally worked it off.

If you want to do this right, you need some special tools. You can see in the link above he made a very long socket out of a piece of pipe for a nut at the rear of the trans,

Thats for the reply i was able to get the bearings out the part im stuck on is the input shaft will not come out through the hole in the housing the syncro ring on the input shaft is bigger then the hole

Some of those synchro rings have two flats on them. If you turn it the right way and finagle it a little bit, it will squeeze through at a angle.

Thank you for the reply i sung by my local transmission guy and he helped me with it the factory manuel shows removing the i put shaft first but he actualy removed the main shaft first but i do appreciate the help
