I have a 1985 ford ranger 2wd, I’m trying to hook back up the hydraulic clutch line in transmission side, I didn’t remove it I got the truck that way, does this style take the hairpin clip to hold it in? Also is there somewhere I can get this clip? And does anybody know what size o ring to use, and can this be hooked up with transmission still installed. Thanks for any advice this was my grandpas old truck and I’m trying to get it going again. New 2.8, trans, clutch and duraspark conversion done so far

Pretty sure it does have the clip style slave cylinder connection. I'm not aware of anywhere that sells just the clip - you might have to try a junkyard or maybe someone on here will have an extra. Could buy a new slave cylinder and get both the clip and a new O ring. Or hit up the hardware store and buy a hitch pin clip of a size close to what you need and bend it to fit.

I’m having the same problem with my 03. The clip won’t hold the line into the slave. Any thoughts on how to get a new clip?

Yes, read post #2.

'85 and '03 have totally different styles of clips. On yours if you have the round metal "cage" style, you may be able to remove the clip, bend the little tabs out a bit more so that it catches on the quick connect fitting... if it's the other style with a U shaped clip, you can buy new clips if that's the problem. But check to be sure that the quick connect fitting itself isn't damaged. I don't recall what style '03 has, it's either the cage type or the U type, NOT the hairpin clip that was used in the 80's.

No, that’s close but not the one that’s in the vehicle now. I’ll have to snap a picture and post it
