My neighbor is selling his '66 Mustang. I could get it for $3,700. It is definitely a project car. The front end is very loose. It has some rust and I just changed jobs. Last year I would have jumped on this thing. In 2 years I'll be back to the pay I was at and I couldn't be held back from this thing. I just don't think I can afford to sink the money into another project right now. I guarantee I'll be kicking myself in the ass in a couple of years. The car is sitting in my driveway. It's going to be tough driving it back down to his place tomorrow. ARRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy it and let it sit til you can afford to fix it up.

Capt Jay.....you(r) back!!!!! If you can make ends meet & the car is in decent shape (won't rust away in 2-3 years of waiting), buy it/hold on to it/restore it down the road.........................................................

OR................

you('ll) be kicking your own butt down the road in 2-3 years for not buying it...

trust me-I am a doorgunner....

I know I'll kick myself. The problem is that with the new job I really don't have the money and what's worse is I don't have the space. With my off road truck, '70 Bronco project, the Geo metro/go-kart project and a garage full of tools, welders and woodworking equipment I have no place to put it. I've got a 3 stall garage with only one car inside. We put off building the 20'x50' garage in the back until we're back to the pay level I was before the job switch. We need to pay off some bills that piled up during the wedding and the house remodel. Compound that with a 50% pay cut and I'm basically tapped out. I don't think I can count on the lottery. I need to either pass on this one or sell the Bronco.

trust me I'm a Captain (damn, I'm not even a Capt. anymore. This job sucks!)

See if that's his bottom dollar, buy it, and start saving now for the resto project. Don't let it turn into one of those shoulda-woulda-coulda events that every one of us has experienced.

Or, see if he'll take payments.....

I have a 67 fastback that I have been working on for some time now. I have owned a 65 and a 66 'stangs as well as the newer ones. Neat cars, all of them. Just watch out for hidden frame rail rust. It is really bad in cars from states that use salt on the roads. Get under that car and look very well. I have several buddies who come get me everytime thay find a goood deal on an older 'stang. They say I can find anything they can't find...lol

Good luck!!!

Buy it, cover it up and resto it when you have the time and money. Never regret anything in life.

It seems all the good deals always pop up when you can't swing them. But when you can... they are nowhere to be found.

Personally between my two trucks I have a hard time finding time to accomplish much of anything. I really want to get a car to have fun with but really I think I would be spreading myself out too thin moneywise and timewise.

Mustangs are not particularly hard to find, if you can't afford it and have no time for it... it wasn't meant to be.

Took the car back.
