1911

should have spent the extra cash and got a springfield or a colt =}
What part of a Springfield or Colt would have prevented this?:icon_confused:
Better fit and finish. :icon_twisted:

I love how people throw that around...

Love how every time someone mentions a Taurus (gun) someone has to chime in that the should have spent more on better. Like they have been programmed that Taurus = Trash, granted years ago that may have been true, but they turned the company around. Between my dad and I we own probably 5 or 6 Taurus guns and never had a bit of trouble with them. Every review that I've read about the PT1911 is that from a price point you get a lot more gun that you should, and that the quality is great. Sure there are a few problems here and there, but these are mass produced 1911 not high dollar hand builds. Those problems I have read about were promptly fixed by Taurus, and the people still liked the gun just annoyed by the inconvenience. Nearly every negative comment I've read about them (the PT1911) was followed promptly by that same person saying that they haven't and wouldn't touch one.

I plan to get this one once I can stop spending the money on every thing else.

Teflon finish with all the goodies on my Officer's Model Colt.

I would not hesitate on buying the Taurus!

My only beef with the Taurus is all the ones I see are too blinged out for me. If I ever get around to getting one it would ideally be a Mil-Spec type gun. Still looks old school but has a few basic improvements.

What's really funny is springfield doesn't make their own 1911s anymore, taurus does....

Taurus would love for you to buy the springfield, its their gun but with a higher price tag.

:icon_confused:please explain...Mine is all black...most that I have seen are all black.

It has the later beavertail, fancy trigger and fancy hammer. Even at that, yours is more up my alley than most Tauruses I see in shops.

If I were to buy one it would be a little older school, Taurus might make something similar but if they do it isn't very common. I am gunning for a revolver first so I haven't really checked into it very deep.

I see the difference....I actually looked for the de-blinged version, as I thought it was going to be cheaper, but I saw this one, and it was all I wanted in a 1911. And the price was right. I want to do a couple more things, but I actually think I am going to keep this one bone stock, buy another one and mess with it. I want a stainless one next.

Then you really wouldn't like my dad's Caspian Arms custom shop 1911. All stainless, and way more tricked out that the Taurus. More blinged out than most of the 1911 I've seen.

I wouldn't say I wouldn't like it, it just isn't what I would buy. :icon_thumby:

I wish, I've only seen it maybe 5 times in the 8 years he's had it. Between the two of us we probably own at least 40 guns, and that is one of only two that I've never shot. He keeps it locked up most of the time, and keeps the key on him. He likes having it and shooting it occasionally, but has decided a 1911 is to heavy to carry much (bum leg). He might let me take pics of it but he'd be pretty pissed if I posted them online. He doesn't like people knowing what he's got firearm wise.

I've been meaning to put together an inventory of everything we own so that if something gets stolen we've got records to report. When I do I intend to take pics of everything for a digital inventory, if that happens I'll try to post a pic.
