Even though you have a good excuse for failing, you still failed.
Sorry, I'm sure this info exists somewhere on here, I'm just having trouble finding it. I have an 03 FX4 with 16" factory rims. I'm trying to keep the tire height the same, I just want wider tires that stick out farther. I have some questions.
Are my factory wheels 16X7 with 4.5" backspacing?
Can I put 15X10 rims with 4" backspacing? Pics would be appreciated.
Would steel wheels that size be detrimental to braking?

IDK if it'll matter in your case or not, but when going down in wheel size, it's possible to run out of room for the brakes quick.

Are there no 16x10 with 4" backspacing wheels out there? Or is there another reason for the size change?

10's wont make it with that backspacing. I went to 15's, which cleared my brakes, but my lower balljoint stud was hitting, I had to clearance the stud by almost 1/4", and that was a stock 15x7 rim. With less backspacing (<3"), it might fit...

Lots of rangers came stock with 15's you'll be fine.

Stick with 15x8 with 3.75" backspacing. Perfect combo IMO.

If you don't have flares, 15x8 and 4" backspacing would probably be best.
