Lol ya, the wire wheel was spraying 20 years of road grime all over me. You should have seen what i swept up after i was done

should change out the wheel bearings while you have the seals out.

I was actually gunna ask about that, so i def will. I tried to find a lsd rebuild kit online and couldnt. Any leads on that?

youve got a welder dont ya :D

New brake drums, thursday I will be ordering a LSD rebuild, wheel bearings and an easy out....

So I decided to build a truss for the 8.8. I started by ripping a 2x4x1/4 in half

Then pie cut it and bent it

Then I trimmed down the ends to make it fit.

I am going to trim the ends a bit more to get it to fit tight. Also I am going to plate all of it in, in between the truss and the axle if that makes sense. It will make a good base to build a traction bar and will be good if I decide to jump it :thefinger:

Also I welded another pass on the axle tubes.

Question, when I weld the truss to the center section I need to preheat it correct?

yes theoretically you should, but did you pre-heat the housing before you welded in your axle tubes? same difference. Some guys will tell you to pre-heat, others will say go ahead and pull trigger.

Also, make sure you peen your stop/start points.

I didn't preheat when I welded the axle tubes, but after the first weld at level 6 it was pretty hot lol. I will when I weld the truss, to be honest I'm not too worried about it

pre-heating is really only necessary if you do not have a welder that gets "hot" enough....

with a 220v welder you should be able too....
