1 ton / 1350 U-Joints

Has anyone here ever put 1350 series Ujoints on the BW1354 Tcase? I need to get a driveshaft made and seeing as I'm going big block, I might as well make it beefy now rather than later.

If your going BB I would not use a 1354, it will not last long if you are hard on them, but yeah, Jay'94 went with 1350 joints after his new driveshaft he had made did not last 3 months with the 1330 joints. The joint closest to the axle is the one that sees the most stress, the tcase sided joint does not see as much stress, so if you are tight on space in that area, you don't need to run that big of a joint...I would run the NP 205 case that comes behind the C6, as this will fit in a ranger, and will hold up better than an RBV case

I have no intentions of keeping the 1354. I have a ZF/205 for the big block. The problem is, my truck is SASed, so I need to get all the bugs worked out before I throw in a Big Block and start tuning an EFI system. I will order a 1350 driveshaft for it, just I want to bolt it to the 1354 for the time being.

Does anyone know if the 1356 flange will bolt onto the 1354? Now that would work fine

Are you talking about the front output, or the rear?? Do you have the bronco 1356, or the F-series??

I don't have a BW1356 or an F-series.

My truck is a 1990 ranger. Auto with BW1354. Just trying to find a way to put a 1350 U-joint on that Tcase. My question was will the flange on the 1356 fit the 1354 so I can run a larger joint.

Ok, you had me confused when you asked if the flanges were interchangeable...I'm pretty sure they are not interchangeable, but IIRC, both have the same bolt pattern (the 54 and B56 have a flat flange on the rear output) so the driveshaft flange should be the same. You will have to measure the bolt pattern on your flange when you order your shaft. Also, if you didn't know, the 205 does not use a flange, it has a yoke, meaning the u-joint bolts directly to it, not a flange. What you need to do when you order your shaft (providing they will be the same length with both cases) is tell the company that you want to use the 1330, the joint that the 205 uses, on the tcase end, and a 1350 on the axle end...There is a possibility that when you change the drivetrain (engine, trans, Tcase) that the driveshaft length will change as well, so keep that in mind

I was just going to buy a rear flange from HighAngle Driveline... They make one for the NP205. I'm mostly concerned about bolting it to the BW1354.

The ZF/205 is longer than the A4LD/BW1354 in my truck now which means all I have to do is shorten the shaft when I drop the big block in there. No biggie. Denny's driveshaft does it for free if you buy the complete shaft from them.

Not absolutely sure on the ford stuff but the gm np208 uses the same spline front flange as the rear of the gm np205. The np208 front output flange is a flat flange and will accept the front cv style flat flange drive shafts. I can't seem to find the seal number right now, but the np208 front flange needs a different seal than what's on the np205 rear output.
