1/4 mile times

:DWe'd tell you, but then we'd have to put out a contract on your life...............:hottubfun::tease::tease:

12.84 @ 102 mph (floating valves)

Expect 12.7 with new valve springs.

This summer changing cam and putting AFR heads on, well see.

Thats pretty damn quick man. The reason I am asking for people to post their 1/4 mile times is because I am planning a V8 swap in the VERY near future and was just curious as to what kind of times you guys were running. I built a 2.3 from the ground up when I first got the ranger: T3/T4 turbo, 2.5 stroker kit, ported head, custom intake, MS, esslinger cam, etc, yet I can only get the truck into the low 14's. Since you can build power much easier and more reliably w/ a V8 i'm going to go that route. To get the 2.5 into the 12's I'd probably be pushing the boundary of reliability, and the boundaries of my wallet.

My best with only a half dozen runs with the 331-sixpack was 13.7@102. That was with a 3800 lb curb weight (ext cab 89) with street radials and 2+ sec. 60' times. On pump gas thru the full exhaust. I'm by no means a professional 1/4 mile guy, so there was room for improvement. you can do 14's with a mild 302 in a lighter truck.

The only 1/4 I even tried it ran 13.3@107. That was mildly launching in 2nd around 300rpm shifting at 5200. I'm sure I could tune it a little better and get some better time but I'm not too worried about it.

Matt

I have not run 1/4 mile just 1/8 mile
302 40over
e for cam
performer rpm
600 cfm
try-y headers
2.5" exhast
8.8 w/4.56 gears
c-4 w/4000 stall
1.76 60ft time 8.53 1/8 mile

i have a 1999 ranger that run's has a 302 .030 over (347 stroker) did ave of 11.50 my best 11.20 on moter (no shot) last year...have done ALOT of work on it this winter so well see what it well do this year...

had in it.... steel crank, I bem rod's, probe piston's, mild cam, trick flow head's, holly dual plane intake with a holly 600cfm carb, and msd runing thru a c4 trany mild shift kit....

it was fast as hell BUT now i have to go all out now...iam a guy and I NEED MORE POWER lol :sorrysign:

now i have put in it a.... 4340 forged crank, H beam rod's,JE forged aluminum piston's, BIG cam(over 700 lift), AFR head's fully ported, victor JR intake ported, holly 750 cfm dominate carb and MSD what 6AL ignition with a 150 shot of nos this time just for the hell of it....

this time it well be a hell of a lot of fun.... here Corvette,Corvette,Corvette lmao :icon_thumby:

Well see what the boosted 5.0 puts out here pretty quick (March-ish sometime when the track opens). I would expect around 14 flat, maybe a 13.5 on some good conditions and a bit of luck. Most of the boosted 5.0 'stang guys see about 12-12.5's, but I have alot bigger tires than they do. :headbang:

When I'm done rebuilding my 5.0, it should be producing around 360 horses at the crank, or so I hope. If I were to change to an even larger cam, I'm sure I could pick up another 10-15 horses or so, then comes time to add the Blower.... which I *hope* will add up to a grand total of ~410-420 horses out of it.

Needless to say I'm shooting for low 11's

zer0PSI, if your really lookin to make the thing as fast as possible, find ways to cut down weight. I'm doing away with the entire heating/cooling system, removing the entire stereo system, junking the rear jumpseats and the passenger seat, and I'm looking into a way to reduce body weight.

Built-up 302 + Reduced Weight + Ranger = hella quick

8.59 @ 81 in the eighth mile(roughly 13.50).not enough gear,worn out t5.

with a bone stock 302 and an aod with a full manual valve ody, on street tires. i went 14.20@97mph

I took my Ranger to the track right after the swap to "work the bugs out". Found out two things...3.73s aren't enough gear for this motor (4.10s now), and always remember to replace the donor's fuel filter after mocking up the fuel system (filter was black inside).

It was a bad day for racing (90s, humid) and the best I managed was a 14.32@98mph with a 2.2 sec 60' time. For comparrison, I beat the same lightly modded '01 Mustang GT three times and was within .24 sec of an '01 Lightning. I made 18 passes that day without a single problem.

Can we get an update on this?
