1/2 Ton Buggy Build

and i doubt full hydro is needed for 39s... assist probally is neccesary

I guess I should've added low budget to the title. Full hydro is about $1500.

Your doing it wrong....
Chevy pump at oriellys $65
Orbital valve (junkyard) $100
Cylinder from local TSC $99
Hoses $100.

Wayyyyyyy short of $1500. Your gonna have to be more resorcefull to keep a "budget build".
Didnt you spend big $$ on Chromo axles?

$500 for shafts and superjoints. I think that was a good investment but I can live without full hydro.

I guess I should've added low budget to the title. Full hydro is about $1500. And if going full hydro I should have went triangulated 4-link front and rear another $2000, because I don't know how well panhard bars and full hydro go together. The total price when I'm done if I stick to the plan will be about $5000.

Oh yeah if I did all that I should have went 60's. That is why I don't have a build thread on Pirate :icon_rofl:

And hydro assist can always be added later:icon_thumby:

Im into mine for about $6500 no triangulated 4 link on mine. Trac bars on front and rear, full hyrdo front and rear.

Im not wanting to argue, you have an idea of what you want, by god build it.
Just dont close off to ideas, research research research. Dig dig dig.

I havent seen everything or been everywhere, but i have seen alot and been to alot of places. 3link and trac bars work. Period. With full hydo works. Period. Leaf spring rigs work. Period.

I have seen 4 pitman arms bend, 2 steering boxes sheared the shaft off. Thats a recovery i try to avoid like a prostate exam. Hours and hours trying to get them to the trailer.

My .50cents.

I don't think I've ever seen rockwells without full hydro or any dana 44s with it. Not saying they aren't out there just not very common.

It' is just going to be a trail rig and I'm not that hard on my stuff. I ran the stock 28 spline 8.8 in my ranger with beadlocks and 37's and never broke it. But the new owner snapped a shaft on it today, probably only his third time out with it.

Got the flywheel and pressure plate on but broke the shift fork and can't get another one until Tuesday.

nice work there Greg...I like the progress:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

no, Jason ( the new owner ) just plans to replace the broke axle for now...maybe step up to a FW 8.8 later on...he loves the truck just the way it is....

"Deb's Hill" is really deceptive compared to the others since the last bit of it is sandstone instead of the limestone rocks found below it....the sandstone offers far less traction than the limestone...so he was about up the "step" when the front started to wash out to the side making him slide backwards and when it dropped back down was when it popped the driverside rear shaft...

l8r, John

Thanks, and I'm glad he likes the Ranger. I miss it but the motivation of not being able to go wheeling keeps me going out to the garage to work on the 1/2 ton buggy.

I think your missing a couple shackles :D
