I have a my big F-150 if i need to tow(racecars, boats, lawn mowers, 4wheels, etc..) but lately i have been thinking about selling the big truck and paying alot of bills off, putting money away for the finace' and i honeymoon as well as putting a couple bucks in the bank. So with that being said i would install a tow hitch on the truck. Whats the safety weight i could tow? I do have drilled and slotted rotors to help with stopping and a rear sway bar as well to help handling.

Would adding a external tranny cooler be a wise choice as well?

BTW, i dont plan to tow cars with it cause i know thats unsafe im more concerned about boats and other items like that.

It should say in your owners manual... you should be able to pull small boats fine, and lawn mowers. You should also be fine with a couple sport 4 wheelers, or one big utility 4 wheeler...

don't forget to check your rear axle ratio as that will tell you how easily it will tow that 2100#. and i would definitely add an auto tranny gauge for it's temp as well as a cooler if you'll be towing longer distances or heavier loads. just my $.02.

The engine isnt really the problem, its the brakes.

You should be fine up to 3500lbs before it gets scary.

The '03' 2.3L is only rated to 2300 lbs w/auto, regardless of gear ratio. Goes against what is said in previous years regarding the ratio, lower gears provided more torque. By all means, go with a good trans cooler.

Start putting weight on the back until it feels unsafe. Then stop putting weight on it. That should be a good range.
