05 Edge V8 Swap

Time for a small update.

Went to swap the Expo rear end in and guess what it is pretty much hosed. Brakes - done for and LS clutch pack - gone out. Pete is going to rebuild it for me w/ new rotors, calipers, pads, clutch pack, new bearings, fresh fluid and the whole 9 yards.

We also figured out that my speedo does not work when the main harness is plugged into the cruise control module. It is also off by +5 mph. We believe it is a signaling issue.

Does anyone know how far off the bracket difference between the 93-94 Cobra and the 96 Expo?

'94/'95... But on those cars, a standard alternator will rest right against the valve cover, if you're looking for a ballpark figure.

So a s/c should work on my motor that is designed for a stang?

Fox body Mustang, sn95 Mustang, and Explorer accessories are all different lengths. So a supercharger kit will not directly swap between the three. But anything can be cut or shimmed to work.

Thanks Teddyzee. I think I am going to go this way first.

ProForm 1.6 Roller Rockers
CompCams XE264HR cam
CompCams Valve springs
CompCams Retainers
CompCams cam gear/chain
CompCams Roller Lifters

This is same setup dasfinc is running on his. Time to start pricing it out.

Add new valve covers to that list also. Know they don't fit the Explorer ones due to the short height (can cut or dimple the baffle) and they hit the very rounded corners of the cover. Best check first but be aware of it.

Ok. Just curious about an x pipe now, I talked to Pete and he said I could remove the rear cats and not get any codes. Would it be worth it to have one made?

Any update on that write up?

More pictures?

Also, do your digital gauges work in the ranger or did you swap in the gauges from the explorer? Did you have to re-program the PCM?

The swap is pretty straight forward really. You just need the wiring diagrams for both vehicles. I am in the process still of doing to the write up; however, I am not going to post anything until I am 100% complete. The last thing I have to solve is the cruise control issue. Unplugged my speedo works and is off by 5 mph; however, with the cruise control plugged in it does not work. Once I get that figured out I will post a write up for everyone's viewing pleasure.

I do not have digital gauges in my truck so I kept my stock cluster. I did not have to reprogram the PCM at all.

Gentlemen,

Is it worth my time to go ahead and port/polish my upper/lower intake? I know port/polish my heads is worth it but if I do that I might as well get new heads ARF heads.

Tom Moss is the intake ported expert and he said that just doing the bottom will give you the most gains. Swapping the AFR's on will gain you 60 hp with your combo. Not sure how good a fit those header would be with the AFR's. I got a set for a coil spring and the AFR's and Bob said they will work on most aftermarket heads but "will not fit GT40 heads". Don't know why not, port location maybe?

Since you mentioned Bob, I assume that you're talking about Torque Monster Headers. The TMH will not fit on AFR SBF heads without some clearancing. The headers are tucked in so tightly that they have an interference on both sides of the AFR's. There is a rib that runs along the side of the AFR head that is not present on the factory head.

Ok I have been trying to figure out my cruise control problem and I am at a lose. I unplug my cruise control and my speedo works but not until I get up to 30 mph. Plugged in nothing works. Any ideas?
