I'm wondering with this evap code, is it telling me it could be the purge valve under the hood or the purge solenoid in the charcoal canister at the rear of the truck? Which one is more common to go bad? I've already checked the gas cap and replaced it with a new one.

Hard to say, but seeing where you live and I am guessing the salted roads you drive on, underneath the truck would be more prone for problems than higher up in the engine compartment.

You are correct my friend. While I was waiting for someone to reply to my post ,I was looking around the internet for more answers. I was getting answers that told me the purge valve under the hood is usually the one that goes bad first. So, I swapped out the puge valve with a new one the other day and it didn't fix the issue. So, I did more research online and found the code P0446 usually stems from the rear vent solenoid. I should have been more patient and researched a while longer instead of throwing a part that was the easiest to replace at it. I've ordered the rear solenoid and should be in this week. I'll let you know how it turns out.

UPDATE: I recieved the vent solenoid and when I went to install it, I found the inlet to the charcoal canister had a crack in it. Crap! So I ordered a new canister and got it yesterday. Installed the new canister and the vent solenoid(why send it back at this point). Cleared the codes and all is well again. No check engine light. So after spending about 350.00 in parts and installing them myself, what did I learn? A PO446 code was in relation to the rear vent solenoid, and/or leaking cannister. The PO445 code that I didn't have, would have been the purge solenoid under the hood. Even though they are both related to the evap system they are completely different in location. My evap system should be good to go for many more miles as all components were replaced with the exception of vent hoses and lines or getting into the EGR system. I'm happy to have learned something even if it was the hard way and I hope my experience with these codes can help the next person with the same issue.
