‘85 2.8 V6 throttle

Also, I’m trying to figure out what these two devices on the dash below the air vent are/were for... my only guess is maybe something with a CB radio because of the hook to the right which could be used to hang a mic

That looks like an old smoothtalker. They built early add on Bluetooth systems. Wouldn't surprise me if they built car phones at one point. Would fit the era. Any chance you can get photos of logos or part numbers? Even partials.

Either that or it's the less hidey version of a KGB bug.

This version is the one where they WANT you to know they're listening. Go ahead, keep talking all those secrets...

Also holy crap is that a factory black interior?!?!?

to answer your few posts, and ask question since I’m young, lol. I’m going to pick it up tomorrow, so I’ll post some more detailed pictures then.
what is a smooth talker? I’m only 20 so that’s an older term for me. And the owner was not an off-roader, he was an older gentleman who had it to fill up and carry gas tanks for his mowers. And it’s dark blue interior, not black.

OK, so at one point, this was your cell phone.

But that is a ranger.

So expect this sort of approach to the concept.

Wow; this brings back memories, especially the Benz interior shot. Those trim panels were real wood, cleverly designed to imitate the high-tech plastics used now. The progression went: - car phone -> bag phone -> "brick" phone -> pocket-size phone -> flip phone -> smart phone. I think that last shot is actually a Fairmont.

About the inclinometers; what they were most useful for was camping when with an RV or truck. Leveling the vehicle when parking made it easier to cook on the RV stove, or the Coleman on a tailgate. You can fill up and use pans and sinks better when they're level.
