Held it under gasoline and there was a little trail of bubbles from one spot. Redid it and no more bubbles. Decided good enough and installed everything I have on hand. Still waiting for the fill pipe gasket...

I have the tank installed, the electric fuel pump mounted, bypassed the original fuel pump and used a fuel filter to fill the gap. Ran some airline in a loop from inlet to outlet to protect the inside from outside grit and dust. I may use it again.

Getting the fuel fill back into place was a bit of a pain, the tank gasket I used was 1/4" smaller diameter than the old gasket and resisted being pulled out to the sheet metal. Got it finally...

I used my nutsert tool to place a couple 1/4" nuts for the fuel pump. It took me several minutes to figure out how to use it as it has been a very long time since I last used it.

Now I'm running wire up to the front for power to the pump. I think I will use a fused relay controled by oil pressure switch. Not quite sure what I'm doing so if anyone wants to chime in please do.

I've solidified the hose routing for the fuel pump. I had just enough 5/16" hose to do the job without putting in much kink. The filter should be fairly easy to change out after running it for 500 miles or so. There is also a filter beside the old mechanical pump, and I think a sintered filter in the carb. I should be good for clean gas...

I have the wiring run from the back to the front, zip tied every 8" is so to the fuel and or brake line. I salvaged the rollover switch from a 93 ranger. The orientation is vertical so it should be fairly easy to find a spot on the inner fender or firewall. I was hoping there would be room behind the kick panel but no.

Little late to the party here but muriatic acid works great for cleaning gas tanks out. One gallon for a normal car size tank is PLENTY... pour the whole thing in and roll it around to coat every surface a few times for a day or two, then drain it and run a ton of water through it to flush it. I'd fill it with gas and maybe some 2 cycle oil ASAP as the bare steel flash rusts FAST and the 2 cycle oil should provide a little barrier. I've been able to save a couple Ranger and small engine tanks like that. Messy and nasty stuff but it works.

I decided to leave the inside of the tank alone for now. I need this moving under its own power ASAP. I do have muriatic acid. Also have sulphuric acid. Moving under its own power might happen today...

Mounted the switch on the inner fender where the duraspark module used to be. Got the wiring finished and the fuel pump is working as it should. I'm just checking over things and will test it in a bit.

I've been having a bird flying in and out in my work area. Finally found the nest. I'll leave it until the birds hatch and leave.

The nest is in a stack of short ladders and planks.

I have lots to do with tidying the wiring, fixing the rear bumper, rust repair, and paint. I'll probably put the wires that I have not finished installing from when I replaced the harness. Then leave it for winter time. I have to concentrate on my move coming up.

You’re a big boy and you can do what you want, but I’d research it on the Internet and double check that you have it wired right, but I don’t think I would roll it over to test it. But that’s just me.

I finally recieved the proper gas tank fill tube gasket. The supplier was good. Canada Post kept sending to the wrong address. Anyway I'll be swapping that out tomorrow. Also putting the seats back in temporarily. And I'll try to tidy up the wiring.

Installed the seats.
Installed the fuel fill tube gasket. I was able to do it without dropping the tank! Woo hoo! Some pics follow comparing the 2. The first one was already starting to swell so I'm glad I didn't wait.

Today I pulled the rr signal housing. It had been hit and the lens and chrome trim are boogered. Luckily I have another 77 pinto and that rr housing was not damaged... I'm lucky! It took me awhile to figure out how to access the nuts holding it on but eventually got it. The new one was full of dirt and rusted pretty bad. So I made one good one from 2. Only got 2 pics but I'll get more tomorrow.

I got the signal light housing repaired and installed. I took the rusty housing backplate and soaked it in vinegar for a few days. Hope you can see the difference with rust removed. And a pic of the

damage of the original.
