Both side of my single cab floorboards are wet. They are so wet/soaked there frozen. I have one idea where the water is coming from that is the plugs used in the inner fender area like where the wire harness for the CPU go's though. I replaced the heater core like 6 months ago so I know its not bad, plus it would not cause the drivers side to be wet too. We had alot of rain like two weeks ago now snow so thats where its coming from just not sure how its getting into the floorboard. There is no rust in the floorboards so its not coming in there.

Very good chance behind your heater box is rotted pretty good. That whole seam in the firewall is a notorious spot for some rust. My truck was in pretty decent rust free condition when I got it and that spot was shot, same issue you describe. I cut the rot out and welded in new steel to make it like factory but if you don't want to go that far you could toss some fiberglass over it if you aren't keeping the truck for a lifetime or anything.

can you see the rust on the firewall. The truck spent from 91 to 2005 in a garage only out like 2-3 times a year (parades), then from 1999-2005 the truck never moved from the garage blown 2.9. Thanks for the replies.

i have this exact same problem. both sides are SOAKED. how many drain holes are there that may be clogged? the firewall looks good and the heater core has been unhooked for awhile since the truck has been sitting for like 10 yrs. i see leaves and such in the cowl and there are leaves in the vent box on the inside. i'm taking the dash and replacing the heater core soon. i know there should be 1 drain in the cowl(get to it by the panel under the hood?) are there any more?:dunno:

My original 88 Ranger had a serious problem with rust around the firewall and in the cowl cover...so if the water is on both sides it's either leaking from the windshield and running down or it's the firewall itself...

This is actually quite common on the first gen Rangers so check it out...if you can poke a screwdriver through the firewall it needs to be repaired or replaced...

On mine I just decided to replace the whole cab...and was fortunate to find one in really good shape...even though it was driven primarily in Southern Ontario...where salt is a man's best friend...and his trucks worst enemy...

i couldn't find any rust in the firewall, so i think it's the cowl

My cowl was also rusted...and I think that was where it started...had a big hole near the back and it was leaking in through there...plus on both my 88s there is a serious design issue where the fluids don't drain properly and end up running down along the A pillar...

It could be that the first cab just wasn't taken care of properly over the years...the new one had been oiled regularly and there is no rust anywhere...

i had this problem and ended up being my back glass. the floorboards are the lowest part of the cab so water will gather there.

Do you have a picture of where exactly you had repaired it?

there is some rubber plugs on the floor board under the carpet and insulation. i had the same problem my floor board was soaked and when i was installing a amp wiring kit i put the rca cables towards the middle of the cab which is how i found the plug on the floorboard. i put the plug back in and now my cab is completley dry and its raining and i play in the mud with it quite a bit so it should leak somewhere else if it was comin from somewhere else. they were just out of place
