I have a 2.3 Ranger, build date July '05
listings from several parts outlets give me the incorrect upper radiator hose. Gates 21947, it is way too long and shaped different.
the Ford # on the original hose is 3LS4-8B274-CA.
searching that number on Rock Auto cross references to Dayco 72396.
then I searched 72396 at NAPA which crosses to NAPA NBH 9286.
Napa buyers guide showed 2001-2004 for that part.
went back to Oreillys and entered 2004, got Gates 22653 which is the correct hose for my 2005. :dntknw:

I'm not sure what hose an automatic trans Ranger would use, the parts sites didn't ask what tranny.

Welcome to owning a Ford. They love to make mid-year running changes. I would guess you have a early 2005 and then they changed it on the later built 2005 trucks.

Being made in July of '05 makes it a late made truck as they start new modles in August.

The hoses are usually the same for both automatic and manual trans.
