My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
bad idea. too short of a wheel base and a sucky transmision. Explorer would do it. I used to tow a 21' 4000 pound older travel trailer behind my explorer. made several trips from Spokane Washington to Kingman AZ. my 87 B2 couldn't handle a 4'x8' flat trailer with a washing machine on it from Cor D' alene Idaho to Spkane WA. (30 miles, mostly flat) with out puking the transmission.

I think it would be okay with a 2,300# Escort and a 500# dolly. The A4LD will eventually fail though. But the 87 Ranger I got from my dad years ago had seen regular use towing a small utility trailer and the A4LD lasted 140,000--and died a month before the head cracked. As much as I like RBVs (however much that is, I ain't saying) probably the RBV I want least has a 2.9 and an auto. I would look for an Explorer Sport with a 5-speed. Looks like a B2 but a good 10" more wheelbase I think. Bigger motor, bigger axles--better truck.

i'll keep my eyes out for an older explorer, or maybe pick up one of those f150's from my friend.

i'd get a towing-only vehicle but i live in an apartment and i'm only supposed to have two... so the towing vehicle has to be a daily driver as well.
