I have had my old '02 F-150 dang near forever. It has been my faithful steed for 17 years and I have put 175k miles on it (had 25k when I got it) Still a darn good truck but with the whole family thing the Supercab isn't really working out super well. Vehicle market in general is wonky so I have kinda been backing up three times and punting whenever I get the itch to actually look.

Well I work at a Chrysler dealership in parts. I happened to hear "the Ford is back from detail" so naturally I look up and see a sharp newer Supercrew'150, as it backs out to go over to get final prep before it goes on the lot. I notice it even has the 6.5' bed which I have kinda been keeping a watch out for so I can carry my Skamper. I jumped on our website, they didn't have pictures up but they had the info, 5.0 and it didn't have crazy miles or a crazy price.

So I think about it all day and finally get brave enough to ask the last saleslady to leave what they want for it. She tells me what they are asking but says they can do better for me. So I bring the family in to check it out after work.

I had my go-to-guy give it a good look over.

So I test drove it the next day to lunch. It clicked, I love the feel of the truck. Tires are junk and they apologized but with as varied as people are in my area they don't generally replace tires before they are sold and let the buyer pick them out. A lawyer and a farmer have different needs in pickup tires. So they shot me a price as it sits and I priced out tires, ran them by the GM to find my price and provided all that with a counter offer... and they bit. I really wanted General Grabber ATX like we have on my '85 and Bronco but all of our suppliers are out of them in the right size. So I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3's like what I have on my current '150 (if it wasn't 16" vs 18" I would have just tried to swap tires)

Well anyway I am now the owner of a 2016 F-150 XLT. It is really almost kind of a weird truck, has the rear locker, trailer brake controller, wussy backup assist bs, heated power rear window/mirrors, 110v outlet and heated cloth bench seats.

Rumbled it it over to my parent's house to recreate the picture from when I got my '02 this morning.

Put the stock tune back in my '02 so I could try to sell the tuner... could almost cry...

Wow, nice truck! I really like f150s and if they weren't so crazy priced, I would have probably gotten one instead of my Nissan Titan but for 12-15k less and more options, I had to Nissan.

But I still love the f150 and maybe one day

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I still have the plug and play grille markers lights from my ‘17... if you want them, you can have them.

I also have a tonneau cover, but it’s for a 5.5’ bed. I may have a full set of black carpet floor mats.

I have had enough of feeling like a third world air force where I just struggle to keep 2 out of 3 vehicles on the road. It is going to hurt the Ranger play fund but hopefully our new(er) rides will free up time which seems to be harder to come by than anything else anymore. Last winter (20-21) was really rough with just age related drama. Valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, fuel injectors, batteries... it was a long winter.

And then there is the constant squawking from the back seat something something about no room in my current truck. For some reason I seem to get even more complaining noises when my lab is back there too. :dntknw:

Lab should have plenty of room back there now.

I will have to think on the lights.

It has a set of black carpet mats, I have a set of Weathertechs coming. The carpet ones look perfect but in my world they won't stay looking nice for long.

On the note of money in Iowa... I have a tuner you need to buy for your fun50!

Enjoy the truck!

Saying from experience, going from a supercab to a crew cab resulted in MUCH less rear passenger complaining

The ‘15+ crew cabs are huge... let the people in the back complain, you’re far enough away not to hear it.
