Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
There is NO GROUND WIRE on the starter relay
@RonD is spot on.

The starter relay itself is grounded by its mounting bolts to the inner fender. Make sure that the relay is mounted properly or the coil won't have the ground it needs to operate.

I'm sorry I should've been more clear I know that, I I meant the two ground wires that run from the negative post I switched to the other side of the starter the one that runs from the relay is connected to the positive side of the starter

Disconnect the Cable to starter motor from the relay's larger post
Okay I just finished the test and this time my wire doesn't heat up at all
If the starter relay clicks and no wires get hot with cable going to the starter disconnected, but then the wires do get hot when you try it with the starter cable reconnected, then you have a short in either the starter cable or the starter.

Most models that vintage the starter cable runs under and across the motor on the cross member, so it could have been damaged or pinched during a motor swap.
