Key switch parts

Hi,my son tools the key switch out on my 1998 ranger?found there’s 2parts. How do they go in?thanx tim.pic if anyone can get some

Actually 3 parts but the gear is hard to get out, picture here: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/fGoAAOSwFtphlTbE/s-l1200.jpg

The metal part goes back in first, it has a tab that faces down and locks into a slot in the gear part, AND the slots in the center of both are lined up, that's what the key cylinder slides into

The plastic "cover" goes in over the metal part and has "tabs" that should snap into place again center slot is lined up

Yes, but key cylinders end can break off over time if not in place
