*originally posted in general, I felt it was more appropriate here, feel free to delete one, mods if you would like. Apologies!*

Hello all. This is my first post. You guys always have great advice and feedback, and I am now myself kinda stumped with something so here goes.

I have a 01 Ranger Edge 3.0 (U) Gas
110k miles on the clock
It will intermittently have loss of power when driving, especially so here and there when you come to a stop/ try to go from one.

The tach will occasionally flicker also when this occurs.

New ignition coil, plug wires, plugs, (admittedly did not check the gap in the plugs as nowadays they normally come pre gapped, feel free to bite by head off about that.)
Has new fuel injectors, fuel filter,
^All Motorcraft

Relatively new MAF and IAC though I can't recall if they are Motorcraft brand.

Considering throwing a TPS at it after Christmas..?

This truck is my baby. Please help 😭

Also tis the season -anyone who finds the smoking gun, will be awarded $200.00 USD.

Have you checked for codes?

I would do that before throwing parts at it

Last code is threw was insufficient EGR Flow.

i cleaned the EGR and verified it would move correctly and reinstalled.

perhaps a new EGR is still warranted?

Also forgot to mention previously replaced DPFE sensor.. Multiple times. The tips keep breaking/melting, and also since the hoses connect under the intake, it's a pain each time and I'm not certain it's the best most secure fit in the nipples under the intake.

nor am I entirely sure if I have them swapped incorrectly.

any advice? Is that a smoking gun? I have not been able to source proper hose sizes for it and claiming them down in that tight space seems impossible.

Im not familiar enough with the 3.0 to give much advice here...

But with that code i would say the DPFE melting (i believe thats the same as the egr flow sensor on the older ones?) Is a symptom of the issue.

Unless the intake port where the egr hooks into is full of carbon (thats what happend on my 2.9)

personally, I would check for a plugged or partially restricted exhaust. A stuck open EGR valve on a Maf engine would cause you a lean condition. have you checked your long term fuel trims?
I am not sure what you mean when say the tach flickers.

Is this helpful in determining anything?

I think you have a catalytic converter problem with Bank 1. See my scenario dated March 1 2023.
Titled Long term Fuel trims at idle. Fuel trims will be negative on restricted bank and positive on the bank that is not restricted. just food for thought, and I would still do a pressure test on exhaust from DPFE port. Hope this helps.

Occasionally when the engine stalls, the rpm gauge will go crazy up and down

Take truck for a drive at steady throttle. Set up your scanner to read Long term and Short Term fuel trims on both banks, these data pids only. If your scanner can record this , do so even better.
After the drive, check the total fuel trim on each bank. If one bank is running rich, ie negative fuel trims and the other bank running lean, ie positive fuel trims the bank running negative trims is partially blocked.

The 2008 ranger I checked for my friend early spring this year, after drive the total fuel trims for each bank were: Bank 1 was negative 3.2 and Bank 2 was positive 13.3 The problem for his truck was partial blockage on Bank 1.

Will do this - and will have to look into how to record data with this HF scan tool, it supposedly does, just unsure how

Take it for a drive while you got it off.

I"m still trying to figure out what the fuel trims are telling me. for what its worth. my fuel trims are opposite what yours are for the banks. from what i've read there could be a vacuum leak or a fuel leak or a stuck injector. you mentioned new injectors. Might be worth it do some testing there.
