I’m reading that the early 84 and 85 A4LD has a single solenoid for torque converter lock up and 86 and on has the same but additionally has one for 3rd to 4th. Can the early version be used in a later vehicle with what I imagine would be a splice in the shift control connection. I’m not much on auto transmission and would welcome some education.

Wow. 😮 I can’t believe I got no response. I really won’t be putting this trans to use other than selling it to someone who can’t drive a stick. Thanks to what ever mechanic invented the automatic transmission to avoid driving their wife around. Now a simple stick shift prevents 90% of car thefts. Nice work! 🤣

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
I read this the other day and went to my EVTM's for 85 and 86. I didn't see the second solenoid in the 86. Then I forgot to come back and reply.

Perhaps @Ron D can shed a little light on this.

I’m could be barking up a pole instead of a tree. IDK. 😁 thanks.
