I have a problem since about 2 months ago. My speedometer gets stuck sometimes at 40-45 mph in the 3rd gear, at the 4th gear, around 45-50 mph it does the same sticks like its not moving but i can feel my vehicle gaining speed, then suddenly it JUMPs to the 50....sometimes if im on the highway my speedometer at the 65-70 mph will sputter down then up from 65 back to 70, its inaccurate lately....I also noticed the vehicle feels like its buckling a little downward forward when I hit 4th gear at 50mph ..... I checked my breaks, yes they look a little old and I wanta change the calipers, but is this a speedometer computer issue? is this a sensor issue from the transmission speed sensor? What is this problem, its so weird and agitating me I want to swear every time it happens. Sometimes my vehicle wants to just accelerate normal and pick up fast from the get go...sometimes its feeling like theres resistance to move forward.

I cant tell if you're describing an issue with the speedometer itself or the engine. There's alot to unpack there...

Have you scanned it for any codes?

can a belt slip and do this? Ive scanned I have had a P0172 code for a very long time for years...this never was part of that. My speedometer literally jumps up to gear, and sputters backwards sometimes then forward again.

does a bad fuel pump do this? I noticed when I changed my fuel filter twice ,both ttimes my truck operated way better, but then shortly after its back to its sluggish slipping. Fuel pump?

Not familiar with your specific truck, but it sounds like a speedo cable issue.

Having a rich code for "years" is not good. You can't fix a problem when you ignore others. Running rich for so long could mean you have a leaking injector and the plug for the offending cylinder(s) could now be fouled out. Or its gotten bad enough to cause other issues. Do a fuel pressure test, check the plugs on the passenger side of the engine (all plugs would be better). Check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for fuel in it. Do a leaky injector test - let the engine sit for a while then hold the gas pedal to the floor and attempt to start the truck. If it starts, or even attempts to start, an injector is leaking.

Also what engine is this?

3.0 . the lean code is most likely from an exhaust leak from bad donut gaskets. as for the fuel pump, i think its bad , my gauge doesnt read accurately at 1 quarter tank. also, i have no fuel leaks , and no vacuum leaks all new lines . my speedo needle slips from 50 to 45 sputters then. instantly back up, it sputters at 65-70 slowly or sometimes itll drop down very abruptly as im slowing down like a skip
