I might do a separate/detailed tutorial on
@Jim Oaks's round headlight retro install on the BII, but following his build thread and after asking a couple of questions which he promptly responded to, I got that done this weekend, in addition to getting the front AOR Pre-Runner bumper mocked up. I did wire in the daytime running lights, which was optional, and I'm extremely happy with the results:
^ Lights off...
^Parking/running lights...
^Low-beams.
^High beams.
Besides the obvious difference in appearance, the performance of the new lights completely destroys the stock/rectangular headlights. I need to wait for the new wheels/tires/alignment before I adjust them but I currently have them dialed so they're dead horizontal/vertical. There's a lot of adjustment in the 3 adjustment screws so I'll have the ability to tweak them up/down and in/out.
With my AOR rear bumper on the way thanks to AOR (duh?!) and
@Uncle Gump I was excited to get the front one on, or at least mocked up. I recycled the carriage bolts from the stock bumper and had a couple of spares lying around for the third hole/mounting slot. I'm gonna end up getting all new hardware at some point, this will do until the get it Raptor lined with the rest of the exterior:
While I don't have an issue with the gap/space that's around the round headlight in a rectangular hole, my wife had an excellent idea that I'm going to likely try to really clean up with look/headlight surround.
We're gonna take either some thin plastic or maybe even rubber, cut out a hole in it to exactly match the headlight/bezel and glue it to the back of the grill. That way none of the hardware will be visible and it would look clean...
Rear bumper should be here this week and I'll get that on soonest, in the interim I'm gonna get the dash wrapped up and start painting ALL of the interior trim pieces so everything with be fresh and go nicely with the brand new carpet and headliner. Temps have been 100+ and the A/C has been cranking out in the mid-40s, once it's all Rapor lined and sound insulated, along with black out tint, it's gonna be VERY comfy. Stereo system is simple but will crank and has updated (especially compared to 1988!) features with Bluetooth for phone calls and streaming music, a nice solid phone mount and I'll have GPS/Nav handled!
