Anybody ride one? Anyone have pictures of your setup from back in the day before you got tubby and brittle?

I've been on and off skateboards for 25ish years now, mostly off. A few years ago I built what I thought was a wide board for my bigass feet (14s).. some creature deck with a topless amputee girl on a giant turtle.. sweet deck.. but 8.5" was still scary narrow for me.

Then I realized old school companies were re-issuing decks and stuff from the 80s.. and built a 10.5" wide Steve alba witch doctor. Thing is AWESOME!

I wanted to see if I could get another one to hang on the wall over the weekened.. but they're up to 300$ now lol... so I impulse bought stuff to build a cruiser/pool deck. Powell peralta OG ripper re-issue, gullwing trucks, 63mm soft wheels.. hell yeah.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I'm 6'2 240lb and have weak ankles lol, I've relegated myself to old man tricks and messing around in bowls/on mini ramps.

Still... smashed my ribs good last time I went to the park and have over extended one of my knees good enough to have occasional pain 4 years later.

Sweet deck. I used to ride a lot. Mostly street skating, not many skate parks in small country towns. There is a sweet park near me, but I'm older than most of those guys by 20 years or better. My last deck was a Ray Underhill Cross. I noticed "Toxic brand X" is doing a lot of re-issues with the "fish" shaped decks. I just have too many hobbies to be getting back into skating.

Fish shape and the pig shape boards are definitely some of the best looking shapes I think. Definitely the widest.

Alva was/is making a 12" wide pig.. super long wheelbase though. Definitely into longboard territory.

Longboards are super awesome to ride, as long as you don't wanna have fun with curbs.

I've always wanted one of those racing boards that drop down to an inch off the ground in between the trucks.

Those are cool, I remember some of my friends having them when I was a kid but I never could get the hang of skateboarding. My son makes it look easy. I always liked MTB when I was younger. I still do, but I have to be a bit more careful now. I don't get up as fast, and it takes a lot longer to recover from injury.

I also used to do some sick downhills with my Radio Flyer. There wasn't much left of that by the time I reached junior high.

Rolling down a hill in a barrel was always classic

I tied my dogs leash to my wagon once. Terrible idea, she ran like a devil, trying to outrun the wagon that was tied to her leash, down hill. I pretty sure I thought I was going to die.

We also tried 'parachuting' off of a big pile of dirt from basements being dug using an old blue tarp we found, holding two corners in each hand. They used to pile up the dirt with a dozer so one side was a big dropoff. It was 20 feet or maybe more. Thank God we lived in an area with very sandy soil. It's a miracle any of us made it to adulthood.

One of my earliest memories of getting hurt was doing that very thing with an umbrella off the top of my swing set lol.

i could never skate board either. but i used to do some cool crap on a bike. we would do the pools and half pipes and also try to jump over the telephone poles and from one side of the street to the other.

crashing on those types of jumps always tore you up though. i know that is why my wrists only bend to a 45 degree angle instead of a 90. the doctor thought i was faking and tried to pull my hand to a 90 degree angle but it didn't work

If I could figure out how to post a picture and had the time, I would show you guys my G&S Fiberflex kicktail with Bennett Pro trucks and blue Kriptonic wheels. I barely have time to type this. Have not even stood on it in 30 years. Gotta run.
