It's my ride there and back. At least that's the plan. Fingers crossed it goes that way but sometimes adrenalin seems to cloud my judgment. That's why I'm bringing the better half. She has no problem telling me what to do hahaha

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
The way it worked last year...

We all stayed in a group and went to a section of the park. From there, we split off in different directions based on what you felt your vehicle could handle. Each area had different levels of difficulty and obstacles for you to choose.
A relatively stock 4x4 should have no problem finding something to do without fear of breaking... but that all depends on the driver.

Agreed. Honestly, no matter how far along my truck is by the roundup, it's still my ride home at the end of the weekend. I'll drive around a bit and have fun with it, but spend a lot of time watching Eric bashing his truck up.
Chances are (unless I come into some expected money for better tires on the 2019), the 2011 will come out to play and see if I can burn my clutch out in the process.

Generally cb or gmrs.
I have CB and a Quad Band Radio in the 2011. Hopefully, I'll have a GMRS rig installed by then so I'll have everything covered.

New truck. Think my dad has an old cobra cb radio and a magnet mount ant. he might let me borrow. Could swipe a new one from work for the weekend. Sure bus driver would mind a 2 day used one installed. Just wonder what boss would think? Hmmmm

I have to figure out where to put the damn things in the 2019. There just isn't the room like there is in the older Rangers because of the overhead console and the center console. I'm thinking these might be the answer:

CB

GMRS

I would prefer that the GRMS had more power. So, maybe I can make this work but I have a GRMS license. So, it's legal for me. Not so much for those who don't have one.

The first and last have excellent reviews. The 2nd is good but not great. External antennas for all in order to get the best range and not have to have to deal with powering through the cab of the truck like you do with a hand held.

Man we put a Galaxy CB in all our Buses. Soon as they leave the drivers always pull it out and add their own souped up cb thay had in old bus so I find them pretty easy to come by but for the life of me I cant get good reception. 18 ft cable chassis ground with a 3ft firestick mounted 12 ft in the air. Still suck. I put the same set up in my boss's F350 and he says he can take to people 2 to 3 miles away. I tell you what though. I have a cell phone that works damn near any where hahaha

Until you don't have cell service...

I prefer the 102" stainless steel whip. It's a full quarter wave antenna. In any case, each vehicle is it's own animal and will greatly reflect how your radio performs. I still need to install the RF filter on the fuel pump wires of the 2011 so my CB won't pick up the fuel pump anymore.

I have that Midland hand held radio. I use it to give to other people than dont have one installed, if we are doing a trip. In my mustang. Or just for general test purposes. It has a better range then a poorly setup hard wired radio, even with the short antenna.

What's the deal with needing a license for a radio? The regulation seems a little.. unenforceable? At least difficult to enforce. How would one get caught? Whats the fine?
