disciplerocks's B2 build thread

Ball joint inside my double carden decided to finally go out half way to Jasper today (1.5 hour drive). I couldn't drive over 40 cause it shook so bad. Then I got to crawl under the truck and remove the rear driveshaft in my good clothes. Drove home in FWD. Thanks truck Merry Frickin Xmas :thefinger:

That friggen thing sucks to get out, or sucks to buy. List price on it was like $80 CDN.

junkyard...swap out the carden...done

Yeah I should have bought that one while we were there. Going tomorrow to get it.

just swap out that end and keep the shaft you have...if its your first time pulling a carden apart its confusing the first time but all you need to pull is the joint closest to the shaft

I wanna see pics of this destruction!!!!!!!!!

Its not destroyed. Just the center joint went out so both joints in the double carden just flop around causing horrid vibrations above 40mph.

Thats never good. Get her fixed and back on the trails!!!!!!!!!!

Ok some bad news. The joint is destroyed. And I picked up 2 shafts from the junkyard, but neither have the flange on the TC end so I can't just swap it out. Called 2nd time around driveline and they said it would be around $200 to repair it. Not quite sure what I am going to do now.

this is quoted from the site "I am using this on a stock B2 with an A4LD and In Lilhorse TK4 D&D Doubler 3-4 inches of lift an 8.8 and 35s I have beat on it pretty hard by sidestepping the clutch at 3k rpms on pavement with a locked rear 3.55 gears and 35s hasnt failed YET"

ok, how does he side slip the clutch, BUT has a A4LD, I could have sworn the A4LD was a automatic, or am I lost in the twilight zone???

I believe what he is saying is he uses it in 2 different vehicles. One in a stock b2 and ones in one he calls lilhorse which has a tk4 manual trans. Make sense? Also its not side slipping it side stepping.

I don't know, but the how to worked for me. 2.5 hours and $10 later I got a new driveshaft :yahoo: I also used the 8.8 flange on the rear instead of the large 7.5 flange so it bolts up to my rear axle correctly now!

I think I am going to take the driveshaft from my donor and have it shortened to the length I need for a spare too.

Took advantage of the nice weather. Have had a slow air leak in both front tires since my last trip out. Broke both down today and dug all the boulders and branches out of the bead. Props to Jay and Rick for showing me this trick.

Also re mounted my CB antenna since it just about got ripped off.
