Wut?
Has anyone done this on a '93 Ranger? My truck came with the 235's, but I've seen that 265's were an option and I think they would look SO much better. I'm curious how significant the effect is on performance? And also, I would want to get the correct gear so my speedo reads correctly and if anyone already knows the correct gear for the trans, that would save me a lot of time! I need to figure out what rear gear I have first, though, I think.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

check you door sticker code then look it up in the tech library here. that will give you the axle ratio. if you have anything less than 3.73 gears, you may want to consider re-gearing in the future. you'll just have to drive it awhile and see for yourself. your speedometer will read slower than your actual speed, but ii have no idea which speedo gear to get as i just do the math with mine. you will probably loose some speed off the line and the top end with those larger tires, but probably not enough to worry about. it will handle a little differently, but you'll get used to that soon enough. maybe a little bigger turning radius, brake a little sooner than you used too, etc. nothing major really. and you are right, i'm sure it will look much better with the larger tires.

That tire is roughly the same size as a 31x10.50-15. Rangers factory equipped with 265/75-15's automatically included 4.10 gears.

nope not all rangers factory equipped with 265/75 tires came with 4.10 gears mine is a 94 with 4.0 and 5speed and it came with 3.73 gears frm factory.

The couple showroom brochures I had from back then said the "4.10 Limited-Slip Performance Axle" was a required option. Sometimes they change that stuff though.

Assumed you bought your Ranger new with 265s installed?

Agreed. My 97 came with 265s and 3.73 gears. BTW it had an 18 tooth driven gear for the speedo but has an electronic speedo which may or may not be the same as your cable driven speedo.
My brother had a 93 and went from 235s to 31x10.50s and only had to go 1 tooth smaller than stock on the gear to correct his speedo. It's easy to pull the speedo gear housing to count the teeth.
