no,rear is a three link-the top is an a-arm,works similar to a triangulated 4 link,but simpler.

the front is a 2 link,a large triangular arm with one pivot at the apex,positioned laterally by a panhard bar.

i thought a panhard bar is called a trac-bar when its on the front:icon_confused:

but the a-arm in the rear has a single heim at the diff end? so its a swing arm? man it sure looked like a 4 link:dunno: but that is even simpler:headbang:

ya,trac bar is probably a better term.does the same thing,though.for the arm end,i dont trust heims.i used a 1" grade 8 bolt as the pivot,with a nylon bushing on the compression side and a rubber one on the extension side.the lower arms are set up the same way.the nylon bushings are showing some wear now,but it's been six years they've been in there.

this is the upper a arm to diff connection.the blue bushing at the rear is nylon,the black one at the front is rubber.
 
so it is certainly a swing arm instead of a link. (i have no idea why i am being such a nomencleture nazi on this thread sorry) how much larger is the opening the bolt is going through than the diameter of the bolt? and what are those bushings originally intended for?
 
the rubber peice looks like a body mount, and now that i think of it that seems like a good idea lol
 
the whole thing looks like a body mount to me, but body mounts are actually pretty weak, but when there is 10 or 12 of them mounted solidly in a non-moving fashion on a body they are fine. thats why i asked what they were originally for
 
the nylon piece is custom made,turned on my lathe.the rubber piece is a radius arm bushing.the bore on the bushing is 1",the hole in the plate 1 1/4",a step is machined into the nylon bushing to sit in this hole.

you'll note that in all the pics that show the whole truck there is a licence plate.for a couple years it was my only vehicle.

being street legal was a requirement of this build,it's a pain to trailer a truck around all the time.suspension had to give a good,firm ride,brakes work good,and all the lights and stuff work as they should.
 
that just makes the truck even better, that is one of the most badass rangers ive seen, the suspension is just awesome, and the dual transmissions is just genious, i would never thought about that, you must get some pretty low gearing from that huh, lol well anyways good job on the truck
 
I'm trying to wrap my mind around the drivetrain. With it being a mid engine, with 2 transmissions and 2 transfer cases, how does it connect w the axles.

I know it cannot be traditional. I guess I'm not thinking in the 5th dimension.
