HELP!! No start

thats a 86 right the orange/ yellow are hot from the key the blk/lt green is ground and the other wire is the sensor my schematic dont show a color. find the hot key on and the ground the other wire is the sensor then check the sensor for the two wires that show little or no resistance would be the heater and the other is the sensor. can you use the old connector to see the pattern or is it melted too bad.

I believe the solenoids have battery voltage egr and converter with the key on the computer controls the ground to them. Did you get it running yet

Old connector was melted too bad, but I shoulda took note of how the wires were connected to the sensor. Didn't think I'd get a slightly different wire color combination from NAPA...still not running.

Am I gonna have to come up to Everett and see what is going on with it we pretty much gone through everything it has to be something simple. I am going up to my sises house on sunday in Brier about half an hour from you are you going to be around sunday or monday and what kind of tools do you have. I can bring a timing light and vacuum guage and multimeter.

That would be great. Another pair of eyes wouldn't hurt anything about now. Have all the tools you mention....bring them anyway if you want. We'll will be home all weekend. Give me a call and a time frame and we can do business!! Brier is maybe 15 min from me. Directions to the house are simple, I'll provide that when you call...I can see I-5 from my driveway.

Where in everett are you I grew up bye the alderwood mal know the area well at least the roads that havent changed yet. I didnt save your number give me a call so I can log it into my cell Kim 206 909 3308

Kimcrwbr1 and I did some more poking around and found out I'm getting A spark...and thats it, just A spark and nothing more. So what would cause that??
Any ideas?

I don't remember if you had or not but, have you checked out the condition of the starter solenoid? The one located on the passenger side fender by the battery. They can do all sorts of funny things when going bad, and since all electrical power flows through it, it may be a place to investigate. If you are throwing parts at the truck, you may as well replace it. They only cost $12 at Autozone.

Just wondering if you confirmed the coil was working correct and maybe try adding a ground to the base of the coil from the engine.http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/OBD_I.html and you put your test light between the ground and output pin. jumper the input then turn on the ignition on and count the flashes and write them down let me know what you get OK

No, haven't been back out there yet cuz its raining.....still. :annoyed:

ok, 4 pages and still not a solution.

lets go back to the basics. are you getting SPARK, and are you getting FUEL?

check for spark coming out of the ignition coil, if you are not getting consistant spark, hook at test light to the GROUND side of the ignition coil and make sure it flashes steady. if you don't know how to properly connect the test light, let me know.

if it DOES flash, check for battery voltage with the key on on the other side of the coil.

if both are ok and still no spark, replace the coil.

SO, if the light does NOT flash, take the distributor cap off and put a volt meter across the 2 wires of the pickup coil and see what it puts out.

it should be at least 500mV

i noticed that the truck RAN before you did work to it, so it should still be able to run.

i know you've said you are SURE the timing is correct, the marks on the crank might line up but it could be 360 degrees from TDC. make sure it is TDC on the compression stroke and the rotor points to #1, then check to see that the firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6 in a CLOCKWISE rotation.

cyl's 1,2,3 are on the passenger side... and cyl's 4,5,6 are on the driver side

and?..... does the light flash steady? getting one spark means nothing to me unless i know if the coil is being triggered or not.

i hope he didn't add a ground to the coil

new coil dizzy and tfi getting power to both going to try and pull codes. when we cranked on the ignition it would spark once then nothing. would a shorted O-2 sensor burn up the computer. Did the coil spark check and is getting fuel It just dont get a steady spark when you put a plug in the coil wire and crank on the ignition just one spark and one spark only.

ok, but is the ignition coil ground flashing while you crank? i guess you're not there anymore so the OP will have to test unless you know.

its important to find out if the ground is being triggered steady or if its not.

OP- i need to know this information, and just as a quick check you can unplug the SPOUT connector next to the dist. to take the ECM out of the equation. you need to check the SPOUT wires for shorts too, i have had the wires of this circuit short to ground before and cause a no start
