hey i was wondering if it was possible to put a 351 Cleveland into my 1994 ranger without having to do any major cutting? any feed back would be greatly appreciated

Yes it has been done. A big block Ford into a Ranger has been done too. Look for BigBlockRanger on this site. He did some pretty crazy stuff!

Cutting is a right of passage when it comes to putting any V-8 into a Ranger.

Cutting your fingers
Cutting your spending money buying parts
Cutting work to go get said parts
Cutting your Truck so crap will fit
And finnially.....................Cutting donuts with a big grin on your face when its done!

+1

There are videos on youtube of a ranger with a 351c.

thanks for the info guys i really appriciate it! jimmy3970 the 302 is what everyone does to their rangers so i want to do something different.

I cut everything he listed except the Ranger with my 302 swap. Clevelands are soo much cooler though.

Something different?? Stroked 351W to get 400++ CID.....that gets attention...especially when everyone thinks its a 302 when the hood is flopped open. With that you can install just as easily as a 302 but can stomp the shorts off of about ANYTHING on the street.

Yes I know. But putting in a big engine you have to take everything out. Like your Air & HeaterCore & a whole lot of other things too. You going to need to do a body lift on your ranger like i had to so i had room around my power steering pump & have to have sure you have room for your headers too. You
got a lot of things to think about. If you put in a 351 engine in you have to fine a c-6 tranny for it. Those are good trannys. I know I got lucky & found one for my 302 engine. I got a good deal for mine like $200. Hope this helps more.

i tend to agree its not really "wrong" to say a 351 swap is harder then a "typical" 302 swap...at least in the sense that it has different sets of challenges to deal with outside of a typical 302 swap.

for a moderate shade-tree its really a non issue.

ac, cruise control, power steering, etc are most certainly not off the option list, just require a bit more effort.

i currently have between a 351c-- 400m size engine in my ranger and plan on having ac in a truck that was never equipped with ac from day one.

thats certainly a ways off but something i intend to do....once i upgrade to a cab that actually holds air long enough to enjoy the effort involved:icon_rofl:

Yes the Cleveland is different and would look great BUT, the 351C is hard to cool when it is in an Engine Bay that has the proper room and a radiator that is made for the engine.
In a Ranger the engine bay would be just big enough (big heads on the “C”) and the radiator, at least the swap radiators would be on the small side resulting in poor cooling and maybe overheating problems.
The swap would be nice but impractical in the Ranger.
How about a 289 HP that’s a little different.

use a 33x19 2c aluminum with some intech fans and cooling issues will be addressed.

And even more "ho-hum" when you pop the hood. :shok:
Unless you are running a good old style tri-power set-up with the cobra dress-up. Just saw an old Hilborn set-up on E-Bay if you want the real eye popper.
