I'm thinking of doing my rockers with Herculiner ( bed coating ). Before I do I wanted to hear from anyone who has done this or knows anyone who has. I know alot of Jeepers do it on the outside & floorboards too. I have seen pics but never actually saw one up close. My bed was done when I bought the truck. Just thought it may be sorta cool & tougher. :dunno:

My jeep has the outside done I like it don't have to worry about scratches I bought the gallon kit of Herculiner from Menards just read the directions and make sure you do all the prep work took me a weekend that was welding in panels and sanding the whole jeep down and putting it all back together

On the right vehicle, (like a Jeep or older Land Cuiser) it looks fine.

i have the spray on stuff down the sides of my truck and on the flares...and did it on the rear quarters of my old jeep

The only problem I've heard with people doing this is the hercaliner fades after a while. A couple of years maybe. The other thing was it's a pain to remove if you want repaint the truck. On a side note, there was a line-x dealer that did his whole truck, a mid-90's 4x4 Nissan. Looked pretty good. He quoted around $1200 for the same thing on a comparable sized truck. That is inside and out.

On my ranger I'm going to do the last roll on the body the 2 inch piece some time since the passenger side has rust from the tail pipe easy fast paint free fix. Since this truck will be wheeled also don't have to worry about scratching fresh paint

There is a special conditioner for it but I use tire shine or wd-40 It's just like waxing a car but you just spray it on and let it drip dry lol

I did spray-on DIY on the tops of the bed rails and on the front bumper of my F-150. Looks nice but it's too thin and prone to chipping. Fortunately it's not a real issue for the tops of my bed rails, I did it just to clean it up some before I bolted the angle steel for my ladder rack down.

Done right it can look nice. Combs Customs has a red BII that was done up to the upper body line - IMHO it looked nice.

Why did you go through all that trouble for your awesome looking jeep and not touch the fender flares?

Cause I use these ones that was when I first did it and looking for new ones

All the pics look good. I just want to do the lower rocker pannels. but i'm a little leary about sanding the paint and all the prep. :icon_confused:

Spray on tire foam spreads evenly & works really well. Cleans and lasts awhile too. :icon_thumby:

It's not that hard really just ruff up the bottom and clean it off good roll on your first coat then wait a hour or so roll on another repeat if needed

What grit sandpaper did you use? There is a second procedure after sanding to promote adhesion...did you do this? I can't remember right now. but I can find out. You apply it right after the sanding & cleaning.
