Herculiner on body pannels

you can waste your money and get all the expensive preps and adhesion promoters, but basically i would get some 100 grit or something scuff it up real nice, make sure you clean it real good with some rubbing alcohol and start paintin! you can also get real creative and when your done rollin your bedliner stuff, grab a can of color match paint and hit it...that would look sweet!

basically, just get all the shiny paint to a dull color. clean it real good, let it dry, and put on the bedliner. have it on my truck, both inside the cab and bed, and out side about 8" up from the bottom of the rockers on both. i have it painted to match the trim color. also have it on my trail rig inside and out. just plain black 'cause i don't care if it fades or not. yeah, i like the stuff.

Well after talk'in to you guys. I'm about ready to rock with it but now it's gonna rain down here in Big Orange country for the next five days. :annoyed: Is this a sign??

i'm thinking that i might try this... is herculiner worth it or would i be better off getting line-x sprayed on, or another brand? i'm not trying to thread jack, but i want to see what everybody thinks would be the best for various types of use:

*salt, snow, and sand (like midwest winters where i am!)
*general driving, just to help with preventing rust
*light trail use
*moderate trail use
*HEAVY trail use, strictly a trail rig, etc

also, would it be worth it to draw out a line of where i wanted to do this, and then wire wheel or similar sanding techniques all the way to the bare metal? i'm not too sure i want to with mine, because i don't want to run into having giant spots gone along that bottom panel, but for somebody else they might want to completely get it to bare metal... is it more beneficial to do that?

your choice. depends on how much you want to do yourself or if you'd rather spend the bucks and have it done. either can be layered on for a thicker coating. also, with the pro spray on (doesn't matter what brand really to me), you can have them leave out the coarse additive so it looks and feels lots smoother, and have it done in your choice of colors. it's not necessary to go all the way to bare metal for the prep as long as paint is decent underneath the bedliner.
on my truck, i paid to have it done but only because i wanted the color to match and also to have the smooth texture.
on my trail truck, didn't matter about the texture or the color and the brush/roll on Herculiner did just fine.

I can't recall I ruffed it up and cleaned it I didn't do another application of sanding I learned alot of things doing this since it was my first time. but It's pretty simple I will do the bottom of my ranger and the inside of my truck bed on the ram

If you don't care about color, and want the rough texture, I think Herculiner is the way to go. My truck is black..so I want black textured rockers. The bed was already done when I bought the truck and the bed has held up great. When ever I get some dirt spots or scuffs in the bed I just go over the area with some undercoating paint...looks brand new.
I would forget going all the way down to the metal and all that crap. I'm just gonna prep mine like these guys have suggested and rock on with it. You can go to Herculiner's web site and check out about three videos they have. My only concern is getting mud all upside my truck and it drying on my rocker pannels. But if worse comes to worse I'll just have to take a car wash brush to my rockers and do a little more scrubbing than usual. I used to think the only way I would pay to have it done by a pro is on a new truck, but the do-it yourself stuff looks so good if done right. there's no need to drop the BIG bucks. :icon_thumby:

Herculiner has different colors available also I live in central IL and drove my jeep everyday holds up fine IMO
