My idea of a Shelby Ranger if there would have been one.

thats the way i do my body work. i just use rust defender primer, the body fill. rust defender, then i use this product called iceing, its a polyester glaze that goes on super thin and fills little imperfections in the body works. then i just coat the iceing with you standard laquer primer. the reason i use laquer is it dries quick, sands easy, and doesnt build up much.

then i do my base/ clear.

The only bad thing about laquer primer is it is porus... Try rubber seal 2K primer.. it dries fast and you can reduce it if you want it thin...

Well decided to take a whole new direction with the truck... Started with flipping the hood forward like vette.. stretched the front end and rounded the cowl pannel off.. ran a longer vac line to the brake booster... Welded :icon_welder: 2 4.0s together to make an 8.0 made custom intake and valve covers... What do you guys think???

Looks like a lot of work for one night! :thefinger:

A ranger that you can lift the hood like a vette....that would be nice. Did the shelby cobras have a hood that flipped forward?

Got the Dream Beams today! Got the I beams out and the DBs some what in.. There has probably been a million pics posted on here of beams so I am gonna leave that pic out...

Also cut an X in all the rivits with a hack saw on the hangers so later on tonight I will use an air hammer and get the back lowered down... Using Bell Tech Hangers (all 4) on the back.. What is with the 2 degrees wedge for the axle? Do I need those??? Or how do I know If I need them?

Installed more of the int. A long time ago I bought the B&M T handle only to find out the shifter on the ranger wasn't threaded... Well got out the grinder and tap and die and made it work... This round I decided to take the lock nut from the shifter to the hardware store and pick up a bolt. Plans were to cut the shifter and weld the bolt head on... Turns out the shifter is hollow! I cut it off just above the boot drilled it with a bit just smaller than the bolt. I screwed it in with a rachet pretty much threading it with the bolt... I unscrewed it and cut the bolt head off screwed it in and installed the T handle.. Bam Done! I like the feel of it being shorter... Also using a Mat out of my other truck cause there is a lot of mud and rather have it than carpet even if it doesn't match my build... The T shifter goes with the 70s and 80s feel to me...

I got one from the JY and welded a bolt to my shifter and made it work that way. Mines plastic though but got it for free so I cant complain and its the same as yours. Mine doesnt sit at an angle though and I can throw gears with just the tips of my fingers when my arm is on the arm rest.

I may weld a bolt to another shifter if this one is too low when I drive it...
Oh yeah.. Hows the 2.8 project going?

Got D30 3.73 ring and pinions a couple of days ago. Waiting for the steering linkage to be shipped out to me, traded D30 4.56 gears for linkage. Have to order a shim kit then get brother-in-law to come to my house with the dial-caliper and whatnot to help me put it together properly. I'll be typing up a to do list (need list) in my build thread. Now to ask you a shock question. Which would you prefer gas or fluid shocks, I'm told gas gives a better ride and was recomended gas already.

I would also recomend gas shocks I have a set of gas Shocks I bought in 92 for my first Ranger They are still good.. In fact I gave them to my dad to use on his Ranger since Mine is lowered now and they are too long.. The ride was firm but smooth.. Seems like I got them at Sears.. Heck it even seems like I got them for a F150 to really stiffin it up..Going from the way a Mustang handles to a Ranger was the hardest thing I ever did.. Almost lost it in quite a few curves.. Sounds like your Ranger is going quite well! I am going to try to start mine tonight and paint the cab tomorrow...

The Ranger is coming along quite well... painting tomorrow maybe... I was thinking about years ago when I was a teen Building model cars and trucks.. They always came with an instruction sheet... Now that I am building a "real model" there is no numbered instruction sheet or drawings to go by.. I think even though I may be doing things off base of the task at hand like dropping in an engine and working with a shifter at almost the same time I am doing quite well.. (Maybe A.D.D has something to do with it) I don't know.. but one thing about it... I am having fun, sharing skills, learning new things and meeting a damn good bunch of guys! TRS I salute you! :icon_cheers: In fact I think we are all a bunch of regular guys out to share what we know and love! F series Trucks!! I mean Rangers!!!

This reminds of a song from Styx - Too Much Time On My Hands. The good part is your putting it to good use. Ya A.D.D might have something to do with it (I have A.D.H.D well had but its still sorta there). Your right about the model car things this is like it only bigger held to gether buy bolts and welds, no instructions, and you cant screw it up.
