3.0 89 Taurus engine to a 2001 ranger 2.3

Not sure if this is the right section to post in.

I have a friend (don't you hate when things start out that way) that bought a Ford Ranger 2001 manual with a blown engine (2.3, rod through block). Due to money or lack there of, it has sat in my shop almost a year. My son has a 89 Ford Taurus rust bucket with a 3.0 that I am willing to give him to get the truck on the road if the swap will work.

I can find info in searches that the sho will work but not this particular engine. Is the swap possible? What does it involve?

Any help would be appreciated. The truck itself is in excellent condition and I don't want to junk it but need room in my shop and I know that is what he'll do if i have to push the issue.

Any idea which manual trans will work? Will the old intake bolt up?

dont know abouts trans but you will have to get a ranger 3.0 intake and misc other items and do some wiring since your going from 2.3 to 3.0 not to mention you need another computer for the 3.0 and may need to upgrade the fuel system .. so in short could just buy a 2.3 cheaper ..

It's all the wiring problems I would worry about, way too many differences. Don't know how you would deal with the PAT's. As said, getting another 2.3 would be the cheaper and easier way out.
