Does Taurus 3.0 V6 Vulcan have the same engine mounts as the respective Ranger engine?

Considering picking up a taurus engine as a backup for my 3.0 V6 on my ford ranger. Just curious, will I have issues with the engine mounts, or will the stay the same? I dont want to deal with fabricating mounts or doing any welding...

I think the block casting with the mount threads would be the same, the mounts themselves would be chassis-specific but should interchange from one block to another. I think the intake & exhaust manifolds are chassis specific but easily interchange.

I had to swap the oil pump pick up tube and oil pan; swap exhaust manifolds, engine mounts, flex plate, intake manifold, and the oil pressure sending unit. I left the Taurus crankshaft position sensor installed in the block and used it. Everything bolted up with no surprises and I’m back to driving my truck again.

Head gaskets?

Head gaskets?

- I decided to try using a Taurus 3.0. I purchased a 2002 Taurus 3.0 flex fuel engine, a head gasket set, an oil pan gasket, and a water pump gasket.

EDIT : I was hoping the OP might want to read the whole thread, so I provided a link to the thread.

Complete post # 1 from Ranger-Forums.com -

When my 2000 3.0 flex fuel engine bit the dust I discovered that replacement engines were hard to find. After researching the topic on these forums I decided to try using a Taurus 3.0. I purchased a 2002 Taurus 3.0 flex fuel engine, a head gasket set, an oil pan gasket, and a water pump gasket. The head gaskets are different between the two engines and must be replaced. I found it easier to pull my water pump and clutch fan as a unit and mount it to the Taurus timing chain cover after the engine was installed.

Right. I was clarifying, because your post didn't mention the head gaskets on the list of things you'd replaced so I was confirming.

just to confirm, That wasn't MY post. I just found it in a different forum.

i wonder why you need to change the headgaskets if you are not changing the heads?

I forgot about the oil pan possibility.

The Ranger Gasket gives a different water flow, somehow. It either blocks or unblocks water passages that are for Fwd use versus Rwd use

You can use a Taurus oil pan in 98+ 2wd FYI.
