1992 Ford Ranger Supercab XLT 2WD


Motor: 5.0L from an F-150, bored .040 over, overhauled with Keith Black pistons, Edelbrock Aluminum Heads, Blue Oval industries Intake and 75mm throttlebody. Hedman Headers, custom cold air intake, 255LPH BBK fuel pump. Electronics are from a 1989 Ford Mustang 5.0.

Drivetrain: Rebuilt Borg-Warner T-5 transmission w/custom fabricated slave cylinder mount, custom built shifting rod with a B&M Handle, custom made transmission crossmember to fit to the T-5, 3 1/2"Diameter one-piece driveshaft w/spicer joints, 9" rear end, shortened and re-welded by myself, 3:89 gears, open diff.

Exhaust: True dual 2 1/4" exhaust with Thrush Turbo mufflers and dual exhaust cutouts with electric butterfly valves. Ending in TIG welded stainless steel tips.

Electronics: Proform ignition box and coil with the stock distributor. Any and all major and minor wiring jobs done in the EFI system, fuel system, and the gauges system, was done by my brother, without him, this would have only been a dream never to come true.

Gauges/Gauge Pod: Gauge pod was built by my brother, and the gauges were installed by him also.

Suspension/Body mounts: New 4.0 coil springs up front, urathane replaced all the rubber bushings and body mounts, custom built leaf spring shackle hangers, new shocks all around.

Cooling: Allstar performance 4-core radiator w/ lots of custom aluminum work and core support repair done by myself. A 12" electric fan from Flex-a-lite keeps it cool, wired and mounted by my brother.

Underbody coating: Lowest lip of the cab/box/fenders coated with Rustolium bedliner, frame and underside of cab coated with Permatex Rubberized undercoating. Underside of the box is Rustolium bedliner.

Future plans:

Cam swap, upgrade from flat tapet to roller-rocker, 24lb injectors, aftermarket MAF and computer tuning. Go from a 3" body lift to a 1" or 1.5", it does look a little high, but at least the hard part is DONE.

Damn! How Fast Is It?

Lets just say, the factory "85 MPH" is far from sufficient. I haven't gone over 70, but she could go A LOT more.:D
 
Nice! Are you using the body lift the clear the engine or something? Or did it just come with it? I'd get her a few inches lower :D

Yeah, it's for clearance issues, even helps hide the dumps by letting me mount them behind the frame. It's either that or get a 2" suspension drop(which costs, like, a million dollars):D

Truck looks bitchen!

BUT, a 2" drop could be gained with coils up front and flipped shackle hangers out back.
 
Looks almost new! The engine is a beast. The exhausts look a little odd to be honest, but it's a nice truck.
 
NICE! Great workmanship; that's a truck to be proud of.

I think it matches it perfectly, and I'm not paying big bucks for a shifter that probably won't work.:icon_thumby:

It needs those bends to clear the seat and yet not hit the dash when in 1,3,5th gears.

If you drove it, you would agree with me. This setup is as comfortable as a sports car's short shifter.
 
Some of you may have wondered how I fixed the hole where the old shifter used to be. Well, I simply screwed an aluminum plate over the hole, and installed this $9 item from Walmart.

The exhaust would be perfect if it wasn't for the body lift. you would only see the tips, the rest would be tucked behind the rollpan. I'm thinking no body lift and a cowl hood :D
