So I got a 302 with sometin like 350-400hp output and im wondering what a good manual 4 speed trans would be, and i also need a new rear end. What would be a good up-grade all this is going in a 2002 ford ranger.

What is the end game for the truck?

you need a new rear end because the 302 costs so much?:icon_rofl:

fun we have a drag strip so it would be pretty neat.

Kind of vague...

Depending on what you are after it may be a PITA to get your dash gauges to work if you are going carb.

IIRC you speedo runs off a VSS either in the trans or rear axle (they switch back and forth over the years) so you will need to address that one way or another if you are wanting a speedometer.

If you need a VSS in the transmission you are kind of in a pickle with a 4spd, they will be set up for a gear drive speedometer. However if you need a VSS in the axle a 31 spline 8.8 out of an Explorer would be just the ticket.

EFI it isn't a bad swap. Carb is easy to make the engine run but more complicated to get the rest of the truck to function.

it is carbed I already stripped the truck of what i can use the gauges are going to be after market and i will do a speedo cable
