Can a 2.3 Duratec from a 2005 Focus ZX4 ST replace a 2.3 Duratec in my 2001 Ranger? Is a Duratec a Duratec regardless of what it's in?

-thanks for any input

The Focus ST actually has a turbo Ecotec. It's possible that the non-turbo, base model Focus used the Duratec engine.

This is an older Focus and had the 2.3 Duratec.

That engine has 151 HP, and the one in the Ranger has 143. I don't know if they would swap straight up.

the 2005 Focus won't have the intake flappers.
does it have variable cam/valve timing?
the front timing cover will be different, FWD cars don't have engine driven fans.

That's perfect LWT! I was guessing that they were basically the same, but guessing is almost as bad as assuming sometimes...
Also, I think the Ecotec is a gm motor.

Appreciate the replys!
Yes. You're right about that. Stupid branding...
