LS swap! finally

Also kinda envious of having an extended cab, but I am using trucks and parts mostly from what I have to start with.

You did a swap on the master cylinder to a Dodge unit?
What other brake upgrades have you done?

Rear brakes are a disc brake conversion kit for a 31 spline 8.8. My axle wasn't complete when i got it. Front are dana 44 TTB stuff. Master cylinder is an explorer if I remember correctly. I had a dodge cylinder. I realized it was oversized after years of battling soft pedal.

Ah, okay. Makes sense.
I know there aren’t many options for Ranger brake upgrades, so I was curious

We need to take this experience and turn it into a 'How To' guide for the next person that wants to LS swap a Ranger 4x4.

Everytime people ask I just tell them to look into different swaps first.

Transmission is out though. Pump is definitely broken. Converter seems okay still but going to email Circle D and see what they say.

Any movement is progress forward. Even if it's a setback. You just found it earlier than later. Keep up the great work.

Ooofda. That's a hole in the oil passage. Found my low oil pressure issue

Silve brazed the hole in my block shut with a metal patch. Picked up a new crank from Crankshaft supply here in Minneapolis. The crank in there was scored. Cleaning up the engine bay for final prep and install. Same with the motor, same parts but fresh bearings. Also picked up a 98' vfr800. Should be a fun summer

Redid the AC box. More structure to it now and no more air leaks. Need to build a heat shield at minimum for the passenger side. The box got a bit droopy even after 45 minutes of run time

Lots of progress on everything. Transmission is off at the builder now. Also 4x4 shifter turned out sweet.

Dang, ive never seen that failure on an LS before! Glad you got it sorted. Ive done two LS swaps; one in a TJ wrangler and another in a BMW E34 wagon. Really cool to see someone swap a ranger. I certainly considered it for my truck, but am going the 5.0 route to change it up.

Been a while since I've owned a road going motorcycle but stepped through a series of them over the years. One of my favorites was my 1994 VFR750. With a pipe, that thing sounded unreal. I never felt super comfortable on it, so I traded it over to a Nighthawk 700sc, figuring I would better like the more upright seating position. I did like the bike, but it lacked the spirit of the VFR (torque, exhaust note, etc), so I sold it and bought a VFR800, figuring it would do everything the 750 did and more. Funny enough, it was this specific bike:
I bought it for a great price and rode it for one summer. I really liked it, but was forced to sell due to moving houses. The only street going bike after that was a 1996 XR250L. That and the VFR750 are the "bikes that got away" for me.
Enjoy the VFR, they're great bikes.
