What did YOU do today?

In the neighbors yard. My shed. Probably 60-70 feet away.

It’s illegal to discharge a firearm in my whole county, so I’ll just chalk it up as one of Santa’s reindeer and a Christmas smile.

Edit: I realized the next time I walked Lincoln that there’s actually three of them staying in her backyard.

They do that here too. I'll sit in the woods all weekend and see nothing. Go visit mom after work and they'll be hanging out in or passing through her yard in town.

Illegal to shoot firearms in your county. It isn't illegal, but shooting a firearm in her yard would be frowned upon do to proximity to neighbors. Bows and crossbows aren't firearms. Depending on how this season goes and next year looks, I might find dad's crossbow and do some urban hunting.

I am in a location that I have to go to a range to shoot. I belong to a sportsmans club and the VFW has a range as well. The sportsmans club is nicer and has more range but the VFW will do in a pinch since it is closer and the security company for the power plant by us uses the sportsmans club for training. They keep us from having to hock tickets and fund raise, so I'm not going to complain about not always having free access to the rifle range.

Given where I live, there should be lots of established ranges available. Instead there are almost nothing accessable. There's one big range fairly close that even has backstops setup for long range precision shooting, but the place is members only (and that's by invite), expensive, and has a years long waiting list to join. Next closes is an hour away in the wrong direction and a WMA range, free for me to use, just takes too much time to get there and have to deal with annoying public. The hunting club is closer to an hour and a half away, and even more in the wrong direction, basically the range there is just setup for sight-in and one person at a time. That's basically it. There are ranges for various LEOs but they don't generally invite the public to use them. There's one on the base where I work, but getting into it is a PITA. A couple of indoor ranges, but they are setup for handgun calibers and the charges make them prohibitive. I guess there isn't much demand because most of the people who do actually practice have acess to land or DGAF who they might disturb/endanger.

Technically I have got a "private range" available. My aunt owns a bunch of acres of woodlands (88 acres, around 50-55 wooded) and dad had/has a 100-150 yard range marked out on it. Unfortunately someone has been tresspassing on the property and when I was out there a month or two back someone had a ground blind setup about half way down the range. Between all the stuff this year with dad passing, it being close to hunting season and limited access to the property, we couldn't get it cleared out in time to use right now. Don't know about you, but I don't don't want to face down a tresspasser and poacher during hunting season. They already show a disregard for the law and another's private property, encounter them during the season and they're also likely to be armed. If I can catch them down there poaching (hunting without permission on private property is poaching here) and turn the game warden onto them, I will. The plan is to either own the property or have a signed lease agreement for hunting rights early next year. From that point on it will be my hunting land (and possibly residence eventually), then I will be removing any trespassers and establishing a presence on the property to keep them gone.

What’s a snowblower? We can buy snow cones down here, they set up the little stands in the summertime.

It's like a leaf blower, but with heat to melt the snow. (I think)
